What is upcycling, and why has Oway chosen it for its formulas?

In our formulas, alongside phyto-actives of biodynamic and organic origin, we have chosen to include an upcycled ingredient. It comes from by-products of the agri-food industry: materials that are considered waste from an industrial perspective and therefore discarded, even though they retain the same nutrients and benefits as other parts of the fruit. These organic resources become powerful functional actives in our agricosmetic formulas, beginning a new life cycle.

Recognising the start of a new story of usefulness in a raw material that appears to have reached the end of its purpose means more than simply extending its life cycle. It means assigning it a higher value, giving it an entirely new function and transforming its original use.

For Oway, upcycling is not simply about reducing waste. It is about enhancing what already exists through a more conscious and circular approach to formulation and production.
